PI Update: TE / AC Comparison

We recently did an article about The Edison being constructed on the Island where Adventurers Club and BET Soundstage used to stand.  As it currently looks, we see a small the cupola roof to the left, a large garage-door looking opening on the left, an outdoor fire escape in the middle and to the far right the new performance arena.
This is what it used to look like. The trees of course have been removed. You can barely see the former cupola roof on the left and that garage door apparently replaces a large picture window. There was no fire escape in the former structure so that raises questions about why they would need one for the new building?  As you know, they gutted AC's former building to create The Edison but used most of the exterior structure. Not so with the yellow BET Soundstage building to the right, which was completely demolished and replaced with the mysterious performance arena. Fascinating to compare the two!

Looking at the shape of the performance area, it reminds me of the old Rock n Roller Beach Club. Perhaps the space will surprise us with live DJs, a roller rink, live rock bands, 70's and 80's nights, state of the art lighting and a rotating dance floor...

I have referred to it as a "performance arena" based on its size and shape, but it's hard to imagine it being used as a concert venue as long as HOB remains at Disney Springs. It does look like there will be a lot of windows facing the water.

Isn't HOB leaving Disney Springs?

Bob, I made a comment on your post regarding the OBJ story; if you look closely at the blueprints, that "arena" area has a label for "Retail." I'm hoping that just means a store front or something there, and not the entire area...because that would be pretty awful.

And I'd heard rumors - and think you had posted this as well - that HoB is leaving when its contract is up in two years. I think that's the same year the contracts at Atlantic Dance Hall and Jellyrolls are up as well, so 2019 could be an interesting year.

Anon at 9:58PM, that's what I've been told. However, there is a huge expense involved in building a new facility elsewhere so I don't know how it will play out.

Troy, what a GREAT find from OBJ. No, that word "RETAIL" I believe pertains to a small area near the front of the performance arena. That performance arena area is way to large for it to be a gift shop.
