This Weekend In Techno Town

NEW YEARS EVE TONIGHT DEC 31
Lots of options tonight, none of them cheap.  But always classy Eve Nightclub has DJ Leony (USA) & Chris Tavi!  EDM.
Probably the biggest DJ name in town tonight is at Gilt Nightclub which has local boy made good, DJ Borgeous (USA) and his catalog of hits!  EDM.
If a Latin music showroom extravaganza is more to your liking, the impressive and brand new Mango's Tropical Cafe is the place to spend your night! Top 40/Latin.
A great DJ lineup of DJ's Fobia, Elias R, Leo Montoya & Carlos Mendoza makes Peek Downtown a great NYE option for House heads!
I still haven't seen who is spinning tonight at Tier Nightclub but it's a definite downtown option in a full nightclub setting.  Lots of pricing options beginning at $25.
Then there's Wall Street Plaza with a handful of nightclubs with DJ's and DJ Draven outside too on the plaza.  And with temps in the mid-70's tonight, outdoors is a great choice! Top 40, Hip Hop, EDM.
Church Street will also be blocked off and this is home to our own Orange Drop!  Outside of Chillers.  DJ's Jay Mac & Jimmy Joslin.  Top 40/EDM.
For the 4th year in a row, KingBob will be at the DJ parties in EPCOT Center. Look for Dominick Morrison at China, Mark Sanchez at Italy, DJ Freefall at Japan plus other DJ's at Future World, United Kingdom & American Adventure Pavilion.  Regular park admission required.
SATURDAY JAN 2
Girl DJ's vs Guy DJ's this Saturday night at Peek Downtown.  Not sure though if we're getting Breaks or Progressive House.
But definite House and Deep House at Sandwich Bar from DJ's Renzo Ruiz & Carlos Mendoza!
Special edition of "LIT" at Bikkuri Lounge has DJ's Robb Blak, Suzy Solar (USA), Nifra (SK) and Photographer (UA). Trance.

Club Report: Crooked Can Brewing Company (Winter Garden)

The new Crooked Can Brewing Company in downtown Winter Garden.
Home brewing close to two dozen selections!
Step up to the bar and place your order.
Lots of tables near the front and outside; lots of artisan shops further back.
All in Winter Garden's eclectic downtown where it joins shops, restaurants & other bars. It's like a small version of popular Winter Park!  The Blog reported on Winter Garden's downtown scene last year in this article.

Breaking News: Neverland Tunnels Layout?

CLICK ON IMAGE TO ENLARGE  Blog reader Dan B shared with Save Pleasure Island Blog some plans filed yesterday by Patina Restaurant Group with the South Florida Water Management District pertaining to the parcels where BET Soundstage and Adventurers Club used to be located. As you know, previously published information indicates that the BET site will become a Walt's or Walt's Place restaurant while the AC site will become The Edison - Orlando.  The importance of the plans, which he published in more detail on the WDWMagic website here, shows that indeed something is coming to those parcels and the plans are far enough along to seek waterflow approval from the SFWMD.  But what jumped out at me in the plans is not that some roof water will flow into Village Lake, but what appear to be secrets from the Neverland Tunnels project. Being constructed adjacent to the lower levels of Walt's & The Edison and directly beneath West End Plaza, the plans portray a multi-room facility (see purple area and white area adjacent it) and one large room which could also be on the lowest level under STK.  Interesting stuff!  Big thanks to Dan for this information!

DS Update: Lime Garage Construction

Nothing gets car park fans more excited than ramps!
Looks like the 5-level Lime Garage (East Garage) is pretty much topped-out now so much of the remaining construction will be within. With its proximity to Disney Springs Marketplace, home to real O&O "Disney" stores, I suspect parking here will ultimately be in more demand than parking in the current Orange Garage (West Garage).

Concert Report: DJ Roger Sanchez (Gilt Nightclub)

Gilt Nightclub on the Saturday night after Christmas!
In the booth, pure House from opening DJ Carlos Mendoza (USA).
He was one of the DJ's at last month's Electric Daisy Carnival - Orlando!
Early crowd on the dance floor was already bouncing!
Carlos' set was mostly non-vocal as he began slow and built things up!
Taking over at 12:40AM, DJ Roger Sanchez (USA)!
And he would play what he's famous for. House music!
First time seeing him since a bitter cold January night at Enclave in Chicago in 2012.
Crowd really getting into the music!
Gilt was crowded but not super-packed.
You can never go wrong with Go Go girls!
Like I said!
All non-vocal selections with the expected build-ups and crashes!
Unlike when I saw him in Chicago, he was pretty animated last night!
The scenic overlook was crowded too!
House music all night long!
A good time was had by all!

PI Update: Christmas Day At The Springs

Crossing the No. 5 Bridge to spend Christmas Day on beautiful Pleasure Island!

Looking down onto the Lilypad area with the springs in the background.
Not due to any recent rain, the springs of Disney Springs have been deliberately filled with water!
At BET Soundstage, a little dirt movement since our last visit.
With small skeletal changes at Adventurers Club.
Bus circles have now been paved.
And this group went for a Christmas Day drive!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas!

DS Update: Along The Springs

Partly cloudy to cloudy Christmas Eve on the Island today with temps in the low 80's. The latest look at the new No. 2 Bridge, located approximately where the former and much wider Mannequins bridge used to cross The Waterfront, shows that the poles now have lights installed on them.
Looking over Central Springs towards two new restaurants.
Higher up view over the same.
Closer-up view shows the progress being made.
Looking further west towards the new No. 3 Bridge, located where the former No. 3 castmember only bridge used to connect from the PI parking lot to down below Comedy Warehouse.
Higher up view of the No. 3 Bridge with the massive mall building at the rear.
And a new water fountain going in adjacent Raglan Road near Eastern Springs and T-Rex Cafe.
