PI Update: Predicting The Boathouse

Can't help but look back with some pride at this December, 2009 article in Save Pleasure Island Blog whereby one of our sources told us that Rock'n'Roll Beach Club and Motion were to be demolished after the first of the year (which would be early 2010) and that a lighthouse seafood restaurant/bar was coming to the area where the two clubs stood. The source also told us that a pathway from Marketplace to the West Side would pass through that area!  In the end, demolition did not begin until December, 2010 but I do believe there is a lighthouse seafood restaurant/bar in that area now, accessed by a new pathway!

The Blog reported in November, 2010 the Schussler Creative temporary working name Mahogany Bay Classic Old Boats and Great Food Restaurant was coming. It would only take 4 years to become reality.  The original concept art for The Boathouse is pictured above.  It was considerably larger than what ended up getting built and it looks like it was to contain 2-stories of retail besides the restaurant.  With the conversion to the Disney Springs concept and its large retail area in the former PI parking lot, concentrated retail like this was not needed.

King Bob are you going to check out HOB on a Wednesday night for the 80's night?

Anon, my wife only lets me out of the house two nights per week so it's difficult to give up a Friday or Saturday night for a Wednesday. Maybe someday when I have an entire week off.
