PI Update: Clubs Out, Shops In

Pleasure Island dance clubs are long gone but after a 6 year gap, shops are finally opening to replace them,  First to arrive last week was Chapel Hats, located in the so-called Motion Corridor in the former service court between Raglan Road and Portobello.  The shop is wide but not deep because it abuts the Raglan Road building in an already-narrow walkway.  They sell: hats.
Apex by Sunglass Hut International has opened in the new 4-tenant structure built where Apricot Lane and PI Live Bar used to stand.  They sell: sunglasses.
The third store to open on the Island is Art of Shaving.  This is located at the front of a newly built structure that stands where the old Curl by Sammy Duval surf store was located.  Not sure what is going in behind this store as this is just part of the top level with more space behind it and an entire downstairs on the Island's lower level.  They sell: shaving supplies.
Merchandise is going in but not quite open yet is the Sanuk store.  This is located in the new construction directly in front of 8TRAX, where the front portion of the former 70's club was scraped away.  The rest of 8TRAX is still behind it.  This store will sell: flip-flops.
Also opening soon but not quite ready is Havianas.  This spot is directly across the Motion Corridor from Chapel Hats.  This store will also sell: flip-flops.
There is still nightly musical entertainment on Pleasure Island.  The group Nova Era was playing Classical music here at the Lilypad in front of Fulton's Crabhouse.
You can always hear some great live EDM tunes from Drey-C and the Andre Caram Band at the amphitheater at Waterview Park.  Here is was joined by violinist Mitch Corbin and were doing Avicii!
Nice crowd on hand cheering them on!
Over the No. 5 Bridge on the West Side, a band I had not seen before was performing under the first section of High Line next to Starbucks.  Come on down and see it all for yourself!

I think new bridge in DTD will open Sat. since plants were placed on it last night.

They also added a bunch of signs to the area. Went last night for a concert at HoB, parked in the garages, and still got stuck in traffic on the way out.

The "new bridge" refers to the Marketplace Causeway.

Yes, the new garage remains problematic in my opinion so I've been avoiding it.
