Downtown Update: Roxy Closed, 3 More Clubs Closing & Reopening!

I thought it was kind of odd when the long-running Takeovr club event at Roxy Nightclub on Tuesday nights relocated to The Beacham.  I thought it was also kind of odd that when I checked the club schedule at Roxy, there were never any new DJ events.  Now we know why.  Roxy has closed!  The alternative newspaper Orlando Weekly reports that the club is actually to get renovations and then reopen with a new name.  Hope so and I hope they still play EDM.  There is no club in town where you could get closer to the big-name DJ's that played there!
The city was abuzz too when the Orlando Weekly reported yesterday that classic clubs Eye Spy, Sky Sixty and Bar-BQ-Bar were closing after August 31st!  Apparently management of The Beacham/Social will be taking over leases with all 3 spaces getting renovations....and new names.  OW reports that Eye Spy will become Spy Bar, Sky Sixty will become Sky Bar and Bar-BQ-Bar will get the most renovations, becoming Old '64.  Music and DJ's are supposed to stay the same.

Yes. No changes in either regard.

Maybe there needs to be a change? #foodforthought

Both clubs that have DJ's stay consistently busy so I think the new management wisely is keeping what works.

@Anonymous suggesting change, what seems to be the problem? Any suggestions? Every time I'm there the rooftop and eye spy are slammed, I fail to see what change aside from an expansion or maybe some updates would help the business

sometimes change can be a good thing; not necessarily saying it should happen in this case. just wondering if the new owners/managers even considered it?

I'm sure they considered it but since the places they're taking over are successful as is, they went with what is working. Doesn't mean they won't tweak things over time; new owners always do.
