| Several readers alerted me to news of a "construction permit" being issued for Mannequins by Orange County. (Link) The Notice of Commencement says that this is for the installation of "audio equipment" into the Mannequins building. While it would be nice to think that a sound system was being built into whatever becomes of MDP, this permit should not get anyone too excited. First of all, there is no permit for "lighting equipment". Now THAT would get me excited. Secondly, several other venues on Pleasure Island also have new permits for the installation of "audio equipment". It is unlikely there is any late night club aspect to this. It seems much more likely that the "audio equipment" referred to in this permit is sadly only going to be used to announce things such as "Leroy party of 7, please come to the podium. Your adventure is about to begin." |

I googled it and find Apricot Lane associated with the address. That is correct, because AL was in the same building as Mannequins. Anon at 11:19am, are you finding anything else?

Hopefully if they had any sense they would put lighting equippment as well as sound equippment inside of Mannequins and 8Trax.

Anon at 10:32pm, very interesting find but I don't know what it means. It looks like a real estate for sale type of listing but nothing in DTD is for sale. Just leases. And prior information is that it is leased to become a restaurant along with 8TRAX. Is there anyway to tell if that listing is fresh? I also didn't see anyone to contact on there.
Ahhh. Bring back this club already. Just that would be amazing but Disney has gone stupid.

Well the location near the RCFD station is incorrect. There is only one 1600 East BVD and that is the Mannequins building. The real estate description refers to an amusement building.
People, if you have a point to make, please make it. To try to figure out what you're trying to say leaves way too much room for specualation.
OK ONE of My points is the wrong ZIP code! why do they have ti wrong ZIP code? is my question?
how can Orange CO. give out permits with the wrong info? I guess they do not check Disney?!
