Hong Kong Symphony Of Lights

UPDATED Winning two opium-related wars, Great Britain was permanently ceded Hong Kong Island and a small section of mainland China called Kowloon. Subsequently, a 99-year lease of a larger section of mainland China called the New Territories altogether became known as Hong Kong, British Crown Colony.  And when the lease expired in 1997, the British gave the whole thing back to China who like Macau maintains it as a separate "Special Administrative Region".
Viewed from Kowloon, this is what Hong Kong Island looks like by day!
And also viewed from Kowloon, this is what Hong Kong Island looks like by night!
And nightly at 8pm, the city presents "Symphony of Lights".
Many of the city's skyscrapers flash their lights on and off to a 20-minute music symphony while laser beams streak across the harbour sky.
While thousands of spectators watch the spectacle from the Kowloon shore.  Some nights the light show includes fireworks launched from building tops, which unfortunately did not happen this night.  Have never seen anything like this anywhere else!
