This Weekend In Techno Town

THURSDAY JUN 7
Probably the biggest name in Dance music this past year has been Swedish DJ Avicii.  And he's in concert tomorrow night at the Tampa Bay Times Forum (formerly St Pete Times Forum) in Tampa.  Morgan Page, Chuckie & Gareth Emery open. $37+

Much closer to home, DJ Baby Anne is the Bang! Thursdays DJ at Vintage Lounge in downtown Orlando. It's all about the Breaks! $5
Meanwhile Ignition Thursdays continue at Firestone Live with more than 12 DJ's playing in 4 locations, this week including DJ Alvin Risk. Please note that Risk was scheduled to play at club Vain on Friday night but that has been moved to this event. $5-10
FRIDAY JUN 8
Venue 13 is back with a new Friday night home at Club Asylum, 11370 South Orange Blossom Trail.  DJ Paul Vaine playing all the music that made Visage a top Orlando club back in the day!  $5

While downtown, Argentinian DJ Hernan Cattaneo will be spinning House and Progressive at Senso Supper Club. DJ Loco Aragon (Suite B) opens. $20

SATURDAY JUN 9
My favorite Bliss Ultra Lounge has closed and the entire staff has transplanted themselves to club Roxy, including DJ Mickey Bono. House, Dance and Top 40 music in a new Saturday night home. Same drink deals as Bliss.  We'll have an article about what's going down next week!  Ladies FREE until 11pm, then $5; Men $7
Would you like a little gambling with your Techno? You can do it aboard Victory Casino Cruises gambling ship that includes Big Norm's Club V.  Resident DJ Shal (House of Blues, Suite B) is joined by Shaykee, Davie D and others. Ship sails at 7pm, all-aboard by 6:45pm, returns around 1am.  $10 boarding fee includes parking and the club on board.  Reservations are recommended.

In downtown O-town DJ J13 is celebrating his birthday at Suite B Lounge.  He'll be playing House, Electro and Progressive along with DJ's Agni (Bikkuri Lounge) and Sisco (Jackson's - Tampa).  FREE until midnight, then $5.

TUESDAY JUN 12
Looking ahead to Tuesday, Dutch DJ Afrojack returns to Orlando for another performance!  He packed Roxy two years ago when he was relatively unknown and will do the same with the much larger Beacham now that he has some hit songs to his name!  Last year a huge crowd watched him perform at Electric Daisy Carnival-Orlando.  $50

When did Bliss close?? Maybe that's why it was quiet on Mother's Day Weekend (your last update...) At least they all moved over to Roxy. If you go to the Bliss website, under events is the old flyer, but it does say Roxy on it now. Intersting....

The situation with Bliss happened quickly but there were plans in the works for a while to move Bliss to a different building. This recent situation has pushed up the timetable. If Saturday Nights with Mickey are successful at Roxy, they'll stay there and when the new version of Bliss (probably with a different name and concept) opens later in the new location, Saturday nights will be someone else doing something else. An example would be Dj Ish doing his old Friday Night at Bliss routine but on a Sat Night at the new deal. That's the werd I'm getting from someone in the know (Bob knows him too).

DJ MadMan Ray, I believe Bliss was open this past Friday night but was closed for Saturday night. The old flyer I used for today's article has been updated with the Roxy logo on it.

DJ Smooth, thanks for the info. I'm working on a story right now that is scheduled to publish this coming Tuesday.

Readers, DJ Smooth's EDM website can be found at www.floridabeatradio.com and is "the sound of the club, 24 hours a day".
