Remembering Club Paris

Does anyone remember Club Paris?  I was wandering along Church Street recently and came across the former location of this departed dance club.  It was housed in the rear of a building that once housed Cheyenne Saloon & Opera House, part of the Church Street Station Complex.

Named for socialite Paris Hilton, she was supposedly paid a large sum of money for naming rights.  Hilton was supposed to appear at the club's grand opening but was allegedly 6 hours late in arriving.  And so it went with the club.  I know I visited 2 or 3 times, taking advantage of their 3 Drinks for the price of 1 offer.  But the music was all Hip Hop so I always moved on.  And Pleasure Island was still open in those days.

After it shut down it was used a few times for DJ concerts under the club name Love.  Rick Rodriguez, who had opened Destiny Night Club on Universal Blvd, tried to get the place going but it just didn't work.  A Country music bar using the name The Cheyenne Saloon used the front portion for a couple years in 2008-2009 but that also ultimately closed.  So today the club space itself sits empty.  Perhaps it will find new life soon as it will be adjacent to the new  Church Street station for SunRail, Orlando's upcoming commuter rail system.
