PI Update: Disney Testing DJ's & Live Bands at DTD Marketplace

Downtown Disney Entertainment this week began testing the sustainability of live music nightly on the Waterside Stage at Downtown Disney Marketplace. The Andre Caram Band ft. Drey-C has begun performing multiple 30 minute sets every Wednesday and Thursday evenings with a DJ spinning in-between sets. The music sessions will be performed during the months of June and July with the potential of extending into August.

The purpose of this test is for DTD Entertainment to prove (again) to DTD Operations that live bands are better enjoyed by guests when performed on a large-format style stage instead of the small platforms that make up the Green and Purple Stages at Pleasure Island. Should the test be successful, the dates could be expanded to 5 days per week, a better variety of bands could be scheduled to perform and with any luck, begin talks about expanding the Pleasure Island stages to include a raised covered performance platform with large format lighting and audio support.

So come out to Downtown Disney this summer on Wednesday and Thursday nights and help support the scene.  Nearly everything Drey-C performs is Top 40/Dance and we can expect the DJ's to do likewise because that's what people want!  More details on the Blog as they become available.

And, soon, from the dust, the west end shall rise yet again, for the 4th version of the stage.

I was there this past week and happened to stumble upon the show. It was amazing! So many people. They had the whole promenade filled all the way back to World of Disney! I really hope this keeps going. The band was fun and the DJ in between sets actually played all techno mixes! It was awesome!
