PI Update: Breaking News From Mannequins

We have a couple of pieces of news from beautiful Pleasure Island this morning.  First of all we have the above photo from Blog roving reporter William who was on the Island yesterday.  New neon lighting has been added to the marquee' in front of Mannequins!  This is the first visible change at Mannequins since they removed the Mannequins signs last August. This gives some hope that MDP remains a viable club location!
And that gives rise to the second piece of news.  Island sources are telling us that DTD management recently gave a tour of Mannequins and 8TRAX to a third-party club operator.  You may recall the rumor we posted last year that said Disney would allow third-parties to reopen clubs as clubs, as long as they were given new names and re-themed.  In the current case though, we're told that the operator allegedly didn't want to obey all of Disney's many rules so no deal was reached!  (Not from the source, but my speculation on a possible rule a third party club would not want to follow is a requirement to be open 7-nights per week; a sure money loser in the night club business.)  If more information becomes available we'll be sure to let you know.

At least something is happening, and possible third party operators are looking into these places. Hope to hear something sooner than later. Keep checking and hoping daily for some good news. Thanks Bob for the info!

Have you heard anything about Senor Frogs on I-Drive (besides the shooting?) We were talking to someone last night that went and said that the bar is huge and it was great. I think we are going to go down there next week and check it out. With Spring Break going on, should be a lot of fun! With everyone in town, we went out to RCC the other night and had a great time (They had $2 beer specials and how can you go wrong with that? Reminded us of cast member nights on the Island..) If they keep up that special, I think we might go down there a little more often..they said to always check when you walk in, some nights they have it, some nights they don't, depends on the crowd and management.

Yes, I think this is favorable news.

My friends that have been to SF report that it is really crowded. Have not been yet; perfect location for it though.

Sister company Carlos'n'Charlies in Lake Mary....horrible location!

@ King Bob: Isn't ADH dark Sunday/Monday? I realize PI could be different, but seems an odd sticking point to get something/anything in there.

@ DJMadManRay: Senor Frogs is a blast, tho it does get packed at night. Mix of a DJ and a live band, lots of guest interaction (e.g. a balloon hat guy, conga lines to get free shots). It manages to capture the barely legal feel the ones in the cruise ports have, which is kind of a shock in Orlando.

71, yes, ADH is dark Sunday/Monday. Keep in mind though that the rumor I published did NOT include that it had to do with it being open every night of the week. That was only speculation on my part as a major stumbling block for any club paying rent to Disney.

Senor Frogs may be a hit to the owners but it's got to be a concern to law enforcement. You'll recall on the opening night a patron ended up crashing while going the wrong way on TOLL 408, after leaving SF. And now we have this incident. Can happen anywhere....and does....but...
