Club Report: Retro Room

Retro Room is open for business! Located less than a mile east of US27 on US192, this new venue carries a Clermont address but is nowhere near Clermont. In fact, it's technically in Polk County yet it's best described as West Kissimmee. Confusing yes but actually pretty easy to find and very close to WDW.
DJ Boston was on the boards during my visit spinning mostly 70's Disco and then switching into the 80's.
They have invested in their lighting and sound systems and the music sounds pretty great.

The dance floor has a lighted section to it and is segregated from the bar to create its own distinct area. A few 8TRAX people in the house last night!

So does Retro Room make a viable replacement for 8TRAX?  Decent money has been sunk into the layout and considering the place has only been open for 3 days, I was impressed by the number of people of all age groups that have already discovered it.

I was a little concerned when I first walked in and was hearing the Cotton Eyed Joe and the music was jumping between 70's, 80's and 90's without separation.  But I learned they were still working on the equipment and once they had that straightened-out the DJ played a long set of all 70's Disco without interruption. You can never have too much Car Wash, Ghostbusters and YMCA afterall.  He then went into an 80's set.

Can they fill this floor with more feet? The potential is definitely there.

And here's another piece of good news that adds to that potential.  That guy waving from the booth up there is none other than DJ Pete (8TRAX, Atlantic Dance Hall) who has signed-on at Retro Room. He obviously knows the 8TRAX format and will be a draw in itself.  The Blog will be following progress here and we'll see if they can pull in visitors as we move back into the holiday tourist seasons. Picture that dance floor full and it could be so much fun!

What is the street address so I can generate a google map?

Does the retro room have a website address?

9350 US Highway 192 Suite 106, Clermont, FL 34714-8231

They have a Clermont address because the Clermont post office is responsible for delivery in that area. But it truly is nowhere near the actual city of Clermont.

I hope it works out for them! We'll go check it out next week... Do you know if they have a website yet?

Are they opened every night?

This really is like 10 minutes from Disney, 15 tops. The Fridays and Alehouse down the street are always packed after 11 with Cast Members and other hospitality industry people, so there's a potential market if they can get the word out. Hoping it does well, I plan on stopping by when I get back into town after Thanksgiving.

Yes, they are open every night but weekend nights hold the most potential for getting crowded.

We've held various Mannequins Reunions the past few years but maybe it's time for an 8TRAX Reunion!
