PI Update: Let's Check Out The Island

Another hot sticky afternoon in Florida but what better place to experience the sweat than beautiful Pleasure Island!

The Braille map has finally been replaced and it shows the apparently permanent grassy area behind an apparently permanent wall. You'll recall the old map still had the two demolished clubs on there. It's nice to see Mannequins, 8TRAX, Comedy Warehouse, Soundstage and Adventurers Club still represented on the map even if not named, although the Soundstage logo still is! Surprisingly the Mannequins rear stairs and second floor entry door were not removed and the Number 1 Bridge from Marketplace still shows the old double trusses.

Apricot Lane Boutique is now open in the old Harley/Changing Attitudes space as the proud Mannequins building looks on.While a black stripe was added across the top, the building remains in Harley colors.

Featuring trendy women's clothes and a Vera Bradley section at the rear, the place was doing a decent amount of business during my visit.

Appears that the old lighting bridge stair tower is going to stay put for the time being as it's the home of a sign for the new ALB.
Meanwhile on the West Side, Orlando Harley's new location gives it much more visibility.

Magnetron is closing to make way for Blink by Wet Seal. More women's jeans! I know, I know, but can't say that a magnet store (with zero Disney magnets) made a lot of sense either.

Blog roving reporter Thommy reports that all the banners that were wrapped around the AMC Downtown Disney 24 building have been removed. Not sure why. But that's the latest from beautiful Pleasure Island. Stay tuned!

A humorous note that speaks volumes about the mess of DTD: One of the banners that was removed off the side of AMC these past couple of days was for Starabilias...when did that close?!? :-P

Starabilias was still up there? That closed 2 years ago!
