CW Update: Could We See A New Club at CityWalk?

Will CityWalk be adding an additional night club? There are rumors out there that say that although I've got no verification and I have my doubts that it would happen anytime soon. Where would a new night club go? I always thought there was just one location remaining, the one pictured above across from Bob Marley's. (It actually goes deep into the tan building that is behind that green entry building.)

One of our CW sources has told us that there is actually a second location that could house a new club and here's a picture of it. It's the area between The Groove and Pat O'Brien's where Fat Tuesday occupies a small niche in front of it. That's the entry door.
You'll need to click on this photo a couple times to enlarge it to see any detail, but it's a mirror image of The Groove space although not built-out in any way. There's even an upstairs section with balcony. This location is a actually a better candidate to be used for a new club than the first one. Would love to seem them put this to use. And if Disney doesn't get their act together on Pleasure Island fairly soon, I think they might! What kind of new club would you like to see them open?

No idea if it's still up, but about 2 years ago the security office had a giant blueprint of CityWalk on the wall (dating back to when it had Motown Cafe) showing "future club" in that space between Pat Os and Groove.

Yes there is room in Citywalk for 2 spots, currently the first picture you showed is a room called 727. I right now holds storage for the Starbucks restaurant, which is how the Starbucks employees go to work. Other then that it holds a few wheelchairs and some barracages in there for a few CW private events. As for the other one, its actually a 2 floor empty space being used as Storage. This one even has its own elevator with its own balcony. and a hallways in the back connects that empty space with the groove nightclub, which would be used by employees to transport more alcohol or equipment behind the future club, The name for this building with the Dark photo, is actually called Future Club. As you can see to the right of the dark photo in Future club, there is 2 or 3 metal Detectors which are used when Teen night at the Groove is being done. Both buildings can be used as a nightclub, all is needed is to make the interior walls and ceiling and add lights and sound and of course move out the items that's used as storage and you got the empty space for nightclubs.

I want to see a Jekyll and Hyde Club go into City Walk and do phenomenal well so Disney will have to reopen the club that inspired it. Of course I speak of the Adventurers Club!

I would like to see an eighties club and a techno club. Then I wouldn't care what Disney does with Downtown Disney. Universal, here I come.

What kind of club... Dance/Trance/EDM. There used to be this one place on PI, see, and... well, you know the rest.

Can someone please tell me what 'International Drive’s Pointe Orlando' has in the way of night life?

The clubs Matrix and Metropolis at Pointe Orlando are long gone. Currently B.B. Kings Blues Club is the largest nightlife attraction featuring a live band playing mostly Top 40 & Oldies. Opa's next door is a Greek-themed restaurant that features a DJ later at night. Adobe Gila's usually has a band inside or an acoustical singer outside. Cuba Libre restaurant has Latin music and dancing at night.

I would point out one big reminder for this discussion.

The majority of people walking around City Walk are tourists from out of town. "Techno" (hate that word) clubs probably will not work on a regular basis because most tourists are not going to want that. If they really did, you'd already have RCC and The Groove playing it to some extent.

The more logical option would be another club that isn't tied to a musical theme such as "Techno" but more of a visual theme or style.

I think they're long gone but I'd like to see a true Baja Beach Club in there. The one we had in Buckhead in the 90s was always packed and a lot of fun and would definitely work in a tourist area like City Walk.

hey DJ SMOOTH
yeah PI NEVER had any people from out of town! PI was all locals! NOT!!!
and I know a lot of Locals at CW! so you need the check your self!

you sound like a DJ who thinks he knows what people want to hear but will not listen to them! so you play what YOU want to hear!
Question where do you spin? and have you ever DJed at PI and what club if you did?

oh and CW didn't have a Techno club because it wouldn't have made and money back when PI was open! PI was and still is better then CW! even now that it is closed!

Not saying there aren't locals but the majority of guests at City Walk are from out of town.

I've worked at City Walk here and there for the last 2 years (Groove, Red Coconut, stage). I Dj'd from the balcony of Pat O'Briens just this last Wednesday night and I'll be on the stage for the Saturday nights in August.

As for Pleasure Island, I was Dj'ing up in Buckhead in Atlanta when PI was popular.

"if you click on DJ Smoooths name you can see he IS a techno dj, idiot."
I do NOT know who he is and i have clicked on some of these names before and never got any more info on anyone before! so you can do all the name calling you want but that just shows your intelligence!
I would hope that BOB would delete your comment with the name calling like he said he would when this goes on! I will stay away from the name calling
thank you come again!

71 & ClubMaster, thanks for the information about Future Club!

Jekyll and Hyde was a rumor about six months ago.

All: Until around 2003 or so, The Groove was a "techno" club. We're all using the term "techno" to describe Electronic Dance Music and TG was an EDM club. It migrated to more Top 40 after that which at the time and for the years that followed meant a LOT of Hip Hop.

I concur with DJ Smooth that the average patrons of CityWalk are looking for music they hear on the radio in their hometowns. That means a lot of Top 40 and Hip Hop. You're not hearing much EDM on regular radio (although that is slowly changing). But to the extent that Mannequins was super successful at PI, a "techno" club at CityWalk could do well too. It would have to be a smaller venue than The Groove is and should have a futuristic feel to it, something TG once had but has become sorely dated. And while I'm ranting, I wish they would resolve the duplication currently taking place between TG and RCC. Both are playing the same music formats which makes little sense.

Anon at 12:04am, I have deleted the one Comment that included some name calling. Yes, "hate speech" along with "spam" are not allowed.

But I will point out something that was included in that Comment. If you click on DJ Smooth's name it will link you to his website which is all about Electronic Dance Music. When's he's playing at CityWalk you'll hear him play what CityWalk crowds expect him to play. But he would have been quite at home in the Mannequins booth and you would have approved!

OK and thanks Bob! I didn't know about that I have clicked before on others and nothing! I will check it out!!!

I would like to see the Jeckyll & Hyde rumor come to fruition. It would be something unique (before I get people jumping down my throat, I know that it's an AC rip off) to the area. And, of course, if it were to go in and do well, it would help the PI, and specifically the AC cause. Yes, we all want the club back, but at least we'd have something in the mean time.
