This Weekend In Techno Town

FRIDAY: The new downtown club Vain (formerly Lyrica & Cairo) is having a "Halfway to Halloween" night. Clever idea, but half way was two months ago! DJ ATM. Admission.
FRIDAY: Lost In Trancelation returns to Bikurri Sushi Lounge featuring DJ's Cyberian Soundz and Agni. A lot of Trance and awesome lighting! Admission is free.
FRIDAY: For fans of 80's, Electro, Punk, Nu Wave, Dark Wave, Ambient, Industrial, Synth, EDM, Goth.....Friday night is Venue 13 night at 11/12 Lounge. DJ Paul Vaine (Visage) in the Main Room and DJ Stephan (Independent Bar) in the not so sporty sports bar. $5 Very dark and very cool!

SATURDAY: This Saturday the new Churrascaria Brazilian Steakhouse opens to the public featuring all-you-can-eat flame-broiled meat selections and lots of sides. Located upstairs in Latin Quarter at CityWalk, the price is $36.99 + tax. The regular Latin restaurant, cantina and club downstairs at LQ remains open featuring DJ Leony (Sirius/XM BPM, RadioDanz, Heat, Club 23) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights!

SATURDAY: It should be all House, Progressive House and Dance this Saturday night at Bliss Ultra Lounge. DJ's Chad Andrew, ATM, Sebastian Paiza and Cheyenne M join resident DJ Mickey Bono. $1 drinks until midnight. $5.

SUNDAY: DJ KJ (K5, Tabu, Zanzabar) joins DJ Jimmy Joslin (Vixen) every Sunday night at Urban Flats off Sand Lake Road. It's all Electrohouse and Dance. Might be a good alternative for House of Blues.

Should be interesting Saturday Night at Bliss and it'll be live on Florida Beat Radio.

It's 1:35am, I'm listening to the feed coming in to the Florida Beat Radio studios from Bliss. Definitely different stuff from what Mickey plays on a typical Saturday Night.

I was out of town so unable to make it there or listen in. Those other DJ's play mostly House or Progressive without vocals. I definitely prefer the tracks Mickey plays!

Ok then I'm going to ask this question...do these other Djs with their styles of playing bring in crowds? Why deviate from a normal Saturday Night? Just wondering...

I don't understand how it works. They have a "promoter" who somehow brings in the crowds. When they bring in a "big name" out-of-town DJ (i.e. Armando, Ivano Bellini) and Mickey opens for that person, it seems very popular. But a lot of these other DJ's are playing non-vocal music I've never heard before and when I've been there on such nights, people are standing around alot. Can't speak for last night since I was not there.

yeah it's nights like last night that i'm curious about. i know who the promoter was for the deal last night and when i inquired about joining the lineup for a future sat night event at Bliss, i was asked if i could bring in a crowd.

wasn't sure what to say to that so my response was i'm not sure; i just show up and do what i do...

Do we know what kind of crowd showed up this past Saturday night there?

no idea on turnout.

i know they run the risk of causing problems with their Saturday Night if they periodically bring in a bunch of Djs that play something completely different than what is heard on a typical Sat night; the crowd shows up to hear Mickey and the normal Sat night and all of these other Djs are playing stuff from left field..

just my opinion :)
