Club Report: The Groove

Had not been to CityWalk in a month so went to check things out. A grad night crowd of around 7000 people were on hand to check out the live band on the Citywalk stage. Wow!!
DJ King was in the booth playing the typical Groove format of Top 40 and Hip Hop with a surprising amount of Dance. It amazes me how many people stand around during Dance songs as if they don't know how to deal with it. Hip Hop is dying out and merging into Dance so they'd better figure it out!
Decent-sized crowd on hand but definitely not packed like some nights. No doubt the Lady Gaga concert downtown at Amway Center pulled around 18,000 people off in another direction!
The Beach Boys are playing tonight in Universal Studios so when that ends expect huge crowds in the CityWalk clubs!
Groove management says that they're not likely to be doing a Techno night on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, planning to save that as an annual event on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. They're still evaluating whether there will be more Blue Room Sessions. I pointed out that the lack of advertisement and signage dooms something like BRS because no one knows it's there!
Dancing on CityWalk's "lily pad".
