New Venues Downtown

The Orlando Magic's new stadium is drawing a lot more interest downtown and new clubs are opening with more to come!  This is great for the city and for those looking for alternatives. First of all, the previously reported club Vain opened last weekend at 22 S. Magnolia in the space previously occupied by Lyrica and  Cairo. And they're bringing something sorely lacking in Orlando on Friday nights: Techno music! DJ Mickey Bono (Bliss, RadioDanz.com) will be playing House/Dance downstairs while various DJ's spin Minimal Techno upstairs. More fun on Saturday nights with DJ Nova (Blue Martini, Antigua) and DJ 19Sixty (Rok Room) playing with guest DJ's. Last weekend DJ Ivano Bellini (Club Space) was there for the opening while this Saturday DJ David Solano (Gryphon, DayGlow)  is there for the Grand opening. I'll be checking it out.

Boss Speakeasy has opened at 39 W. Pine in the space previously occupied by Element. Their ads don't speak of music formats so I'll let you know more once I visit.

At Church Street Station, Baby Grands Dueling Piano Bar has opened upstairs to become Orlando's fourth such venue. They join Jellyrolls at Disney's Boardwalk, Pat O'Brien's at CityWalk and Howl at the Moon on I-Drive. Also downtown, we're still waiting clubs Heat and Deja' Vu to open. See the September 29th article.

I was there this past Saturday night. It was fun. But the bouncers need a little lesson on curtesy. One of them yelled in the Mens room to finish and get out. I laughed.

The bouncers need to learn to curtsey?

Joe, hope to learn what this 3D angle is this Saturday night.

I'll be avoiding the Men's room!

Sorry, I meant to spell that "courtesy". LOL. I may have had one drink too many when I was writing that. The Club was Awesome. The music was good. I had a good time there. I hope they continue to maintain the club the way it is. I could definitely see myself to be a regular there.
