Club Reports: Bullitt, Vintage, Independent Bar

Bullitt is a new bar in downtown Orlando that sports a theme based on the 1968 film of the same name that starred Steve McQueen. Like a lot of downtown venues, it's narrow and deep with barely a dance floor but the vibe is pretty cool and it's a good place to have a drink or two. Turns out I knew DJ Mott from a DJ wedding reception I went to a couple years ago. It's hard to describe exactly what the music format was last night; perhaps Indie is the term. Whatever it was, it had a good beat. Thursday nights Mott spins "Classic Alternative from the only bands that matter." It's good to see a downtown bar with a theme. Many don't have one.

It's always great to visit Vintage because of the music which is mostly the Dance/Top 40 mix you would have heard at Mannequins. And that's because the Saturday night Resident DJ is Dominick Morrison who was the Monday-Wednesday DJ at Mannequins! More tiny dance floors here but once people get fueled-up they will literally dance anywhere! Morrison is also the New Years Eve DJ at China in EPCOT and he says the set-up for 2010/2011 NYE is going to be even better than in the past. I think that means more lights, more pyro. I will be there!

And of course there is I-BAR which on Saturday nights is all early 80's New Wave/Old Wave music videos. The patron mix is the most diverse of any downtown club I've seen and spans all ages, lifestyles and fashions. Anything goes in here and the Saturdays are always packed!

Haven't been to Chillers in a long while. But we've got Fat Tuesday now!

I had an amazing night out there on a wednesday in June 2008. I just wondered if it was still a great place to go out......

Yes, Chillers is still there. For those unfamiliar with it, Chillers is located on the ground floor, Beer Belly Brewery is upstairs and then Lattitudes is outdoors on the roof. One entry price gets you all three and they each have their own DJ.
