Pleasure Island Reunion

Last September former Pleasure Island cast members got together for a reunion to commemorate their old home. Last night former Pleasure Island club patrons got together for a reunion to mourn our old home. Large crowd last night at Atlantic Dance Hall, the largest I've seen other than NYE. CLICK ON PHOTOS TO ENLARGE

I nearly always run into PI people at ADH but never so many gathered in one place at one time since the Final Night of the island itself. Lots and lots of Mannequins, 8TRAX and Motion people attending the reunion. Someone told me that even radio station XL106.7 had mentioned it.

DJ's Talie, Tony & Pat were on hand. Have to give credit where credit is due and DJ Pat did a really good job, playing song clusters from the different clubs. When he played Cotton-Eyed Joe I thought perhaps he was paying tribute to PI's Neon Armadillo but I was told that it was actually a popular song at Motion. Here are pics of just some of the people I recognized from the Island; there were many others. Hopefully I've posted everyone that I promised!

It was a great time...loved seeing the old PI crew gather - ah the memories. DJ Talie fallen on the floor(drunk?) next to the half moon is my favorite pic...

LOL....she wasn't drunk. My recollection is that other guy on the floor had accidently knocked both of them down!

I had a Fantastic time last night. It was GREAT seeing everyone under one roof again. That PI energy was definitely in the air. There were so many people I haven't seen in such a long time. Thanks KingBob for posting the pictures. We all need to do this again. Maybe in September??? hint-hint.

To whom it may concern, thanks for this blog. I'am glad to see that people still want to save Pleasure Island. It's good to see so many people showing up to ADH to show support. This shows Disney execut- ives what a misdirection they have taken in closing Pleasure Island clubs down and other forms of entertainment. But if you really want to get their attention just buy one share of Disney stock and that gives any share holder the right to go to Disney annual share holders meetings and ask the executives questions about this matter. or make suggestions to them.If enough people do this they cannot ignore the wishes of the share holders.Remember share holders have a vote.Never give up!

Here is a youtube link to a 5 minute plus video clip of some of the regular Pleasure Island club-goers. Most of the dancers in this clip were frequent patrons of club Motions. The clip was shot around 10:pm and many more PI regulars strolled in afterwards. It was great to see familiar faces that I had not seen since the closing of all the PI clubs.

Ken, did not get a chance to watch the video until I got home this evening. This is too good NOT to embed it directly onto the Blog! Thanks so much!

Anon, the stock idea is a great one. I'm sure ADH made some good revenue on Saturday night, revenue which is lost many times over weekend after weekend on the empty island. Thanks.

What a fun night! It was my privilege to share the occasion because I too loved and miss Pleasure Island. It was great to see DJ Frankie, DJ Talie, and DJ Tony and I give mad props to all the Pleasure Island DJs through the years.

Even if I don't know everyone, you're all friends to me and ALWAYS welcome at ADH. The all request format promises a surprise or two and hopefully something for everyone. Party on>

Cheers,
"DJ Pat"
