PI Update

A new store called Little Missmatched is coming to DTD West Side and is to be located in the spot vacated by Starabilias. The store carries trendy (but mismatched) things for girls. What's intriguing about this news is that it was rumored that the Harley Davidson store on Pleasure Island was moving into that spot. So maybe Harley isn't moving after all. So bring on that Harley Davidson Cafe into the Mannequins building! At least use that space for something! Update: Little Missmatched is now open.

Sources says construction crews have been at work inside Comedy Warehouse, apparently dismantling the stage. They have also been painting. Hmmm. You don't normally paint things that are going to be demolished. So this could be sign that something is coming.

The famous DJ booth is back in place on the stage at Motion.

What a waste. Like all of Disney isn't already set up for gross, little kids.

CLEAN UP THIS MESS!

We were all gross little kids at one point. I have no problem with catering to them.

It's when they quit catering to adults!!!

Exactly, they stopped catering to adults. We had just a small piece of Disney for ourselves and now that's gone. Forget catering we're not even an afterthought anymore.

Disney recentely opened up a Tequila bar at EPCOT, they haven't 'quit catering to adults'

Just stumbled across this blog. Doesn't Disney still have the Boardwalk Dance Hall and Rix on their property? Why doesn't that suffice if you need the Disney touch to your clubbing expierience?

Philly, welcome to the Save PI blog. If you scroll down you'll see various references to Atlantic Dance Hall at the Boardwalk. It's the only remaining Disney-run dance club at Disney World. It's a beautiful facility and can be a fun place but it doesn't replace Pleasure Island because for one price PI got you 4 dance clubs with 4 different types of music plus 2 comedy clubs. No comparison.

But what irks most people is that the PI clubs closed last September to replaced with something never announced and now more than a year later the clubs still sit there rotting away, never replaced.

Rix Lounge in the Coronado Springs Resort is more of a sports bar than a dance club.

Rix is an "OP"...meaning Disney doesn't run it. Rix plays music occasionally, but they tend to cater to the convention crowd, so it's usually a sports bar with a ultra lounge feel (which seems like such a waste of such a nice looking club)

ADH has no cohesiveness. It's "all request", and the ugly convention tourists tend to request bad music. It's like a horrible wedding reception or bar mitzvah. Whenever I've been there, it's rare they play much current top 40, and forget about any Dance mixes (despite my 'request')

I've NEVER come across a club as awesome as Mannequins Dance Palace (MDP). Most clubs don't have the budget Disney has, so they don't come close.

Celebrate Tonight, and it's bold new vision of nothingness!

Joe- LOL. You are exactly right.
We need to make a better effort to make ADH more local, more like Mannequins.

I'm all for this. Traditionally "techno" did not come with videos and Atlantic Dance really wants to play videos with their music. But this changing and some of the ADH DJ's do bring Dance songs/videos with them.

If we actually organized a big gathering on a night we knew such DJ would be working and that's all we requested, chances are we could pull off a Mannequins night. There is some surprisingly good lighting there; an ex-Mannequins lighting tech works there many nights. As for the CO2 spraydown....nothing like that!

I'm all for it... how far in advance do they schedule people? Let's pick a night when there'll be a sympathetic DJ and see what we can do to get a crowd out...

I'll ask around and find out how far ahead the DJ schedule is made.

Schedule is made a couple weeks in advance, per DJ Tony.
